Another exciting week of Major League Baseball Playoff action ended with the American League Central Champion and runners up in a five-game barnburner. After the Chicago White Sox took two games in Cleveland, the Guardians came roaring back with two wins in Chicago setting up a pivotal Game 5 back on Lake Erie. And as happens in the postseason, a new hero emerged. Gavin Williams came back from pitching the ninth inning in Game 4 to secure the win, to go 5 2/3 innings of one hit baseball in Game 5 to get the win in a 2-0 thriller. Over the series, Williams pitched Games 1, 4, and 5, going 11 2/3 innings, with just 6 hits and 2 runs with a mind-blowing 24 strike outs. He and teammates set a record in Game 5, fanning 21 Pale Hose sluggers in the shutout victory. Calm as a cucumber. Willams proved his October mettle and looks to do the same in the ALCS against the Tampa Bay Rays. Gavin Williams is the Longhorndave Sportsman of the Week!
