The calendar turns to October and in America sports that is synonymous with Major League Baseball Playoffs. In the current format, that means three straight days of Wild Card action. The only series to go to three games was a heavyweight National League East matchup between the Division Champion Atlanta Braves and the 2022 National League Pennant winning Philadelphia Phillies. The series did not disappoint. Three games down to the wire and a hero was the Braves Michael Harris II. Not the first name you think of when thinking of the current Braves, but he is an offensive machine. He went 3-3 and scored 2 of the 5 Braves runs in a 5-3 Game 1 win. He hit a crucial 3-run home run in Game 3 to put the Braves ahead for good in a gutsy win to secure the series. He then followed that up in Los Angeles in the NL Division Series Game 2 going 3-5 with a double and triple, knocking one run in and scoring himself in a huge 3-2 road win. The center of the Braves 3 victories in 5 games as they head home hoping to upset the heavily favored Dodgers. The fans will be chanting his name, and he will surely respond. Michael Harris II is the Longhorndave Sportsman of the Week!
